PRODUCT REVIEW | Coastal scents 88 colour warm palette

I've been wanting to do this review for a while now, but somehow, other things kept getting in the way. Besides, i've been waiting for the perfect time...this is the perfect time. Please don't ask me why ooo! *covers face*

This palette! Hmnnnnn...i just love everything about it. What's not to love? The right mix of warm colors, shimmery and matte textures, different shades for different skin tones.....what have you?

B 'n D Makeover

I can't remember when last i did a makeover post. It's been quite a while sha. I noticed that on other beauty blogs, they usually have names for the different looks they create. I suck at naming stuff, so i think just 'B 'n D Makeover' will do.

Here's the look i did today....

Hello dolls!

I logged into my blogger account today to update my blog, and what did i see?

18,100 page views!!!!! #GASP!

Who woulda thunk?!!! When i decided to start a blog, i never even dreamt that it will come this far or that i would still be blogging today. This isn't the first blog i've ever had....i had one other blog some years ago, but i don't even think it lasted even 2 months and i abandoned it. So when i started this blog, i thought it would meet the same fate....but here i am today, here we are today......many posts and pageviews later, we are still as comitted as ever! #MightyGrin.

I actually logged in to write a post, but i decided it should wait till i say a proper thank you to you my readers.

Thank you for always making out time to click on and read my blog.

Thank you for all the comments and emails.

Thank you for all your support.....means so much to me. #Grateful

My prayer for you all is that God should bless, uphold and keep you all. May you be successful in all you do.

Abrazos y besos.

PRODUCT REVIEW | NYX slim lip-liner pencils

So today, in an MUA group i'm in, we were talking about products that get good reviews, but when you buy and use them, you wonder..as in seriously wonder what all the rave was about *rolls eyes*.

April 7th-29th training at 'The Deeva Centre' in pictures

Hey everyone....it's been quite a while! So sorry i've not updated my blog for a while now because i got a 'lil bit busy.

3 weeks ago, i started a training session at 'The deeva centre', and to God be the glory...it ended today. It was a fun 3 weeks (have i ever mentioned that i love my job? *the goofiest grin ever*). Again, i had 2 students, and they were ever-attentive and willing to learn. I'm glad they did learn because their makeup and gele skills vastly improved over the past weeks.

Now folks, meet Onyinye and Jennifer, and have fun viewing the pics of some of their works. While viewing, please note that they are works-in-progress, and are not perfect yet. They still need practice in some areas, and like i told them, practice makes perfect so they should practice frequently till they get there.....and they WILL get there!

Makeup 101 | Knowing the areas of your eyes

Hey everyone!

It just occured to me yesterday that i have not educated y'all on the parts of the eye. If you want to apply your eyeshadows and apply them well, then you should know the parts of the eye. This is because some colours are best for some areas and won't turn out nice in other areas. Now those who are still learning about makeup will find this post informative....thank me later *winks*

I would have done this with a picture of my own eye, but i don't know how to label and type within a picture...*shrugs*, so i went and tiffed a pix from an oyibo woman's blog.

Here it is...*covers face*

Makeup products you should have for personal use.

Good morning dears

Hope you had a good night's rest? I was well-rested and i'm ready to face the day.

It occured to me to do a post about the basic makeup items every lady should have in her little makeup bag or purse. The size of that purse however is determined by how into makeup the lady is. I mean, for makeup addicts who cant resist buying every makeup product they see, that purse mini-bag is bound to be big!

As for me, i buy makeup a lot! And funny enough, i'm not a makeup person...i don't really use it on my face. Most of the time, i go out with nothing but lip gloss on my face and i'm good and comfortable. I only started using makeup recently because of what i do, and i only wear makeup on sundays....to church. My hubby doesn't even like it....he says he prefers me without makeup on. So, i buy them for professional use mostly.

Yeah, that's what i asked......have you?

What do you mean no? Have i taught you nothing? *raised brow*. How do you expect to have beautiful skin if you won't do what it takes?

Have you forgotten so soon the importance of treating yourself to a facials procedure frequently? Ok, let me break it down again......

PRODUCT REVIEW | Tara's eye primer.

Ok people, this is one product i can't do without as an MUA. I don't know if there's a better primer in the market (there probably is), but for now, this is the one i know, and its 'aaah-may-zing'!

Before i got this little wonder, i was using a MaryKay eye primer which was okay, but i didn't know what i was missing until i was introduced to Tara's primer.

Tara's eye primer
This product is cream-coloured, creamy and a little bit thick...thick enough for the eyeshadow to stick to.....thicker than the MaryKay version. I like the packaging, how small it is and the transparent plastic lid/cover.

Ann got re-defined!

Today is Ann's wedding day.

'Blushes 'n Dimples' was there to re-define her, and oh my, she was pleased with the end results.
During her trial session, i did 2 looks for her. She liked the latter, but i prefered the former..... but today, she said i should just go with my guts and i was so pleased she said that.

PRODUCT REVIEW | Tara HIP (Queen Amina eyeshadow palette)

Hey, how's your day going?
I'm back with another product review, this time, it's a Tara HIP eyeshadow palette.

This palette has pretty colours… Pinks, blues, gold, brown, silvery white, black and green. They are all shimmery, and very pigmented just as the HIP in the name says. HIP stands for ‘High Intensity Pigments’. I like all the colours in this palette, and i have fun mixing them.

BETTER LIVING | Why worry?

In my BBM group 'Praying Mums', we discussed this topic yesterday, and somehow, i was led to share it here today. How does this relate to beauty? Stay tuned. I’ll tell you at the end of the post.
One of my best quotes of all time is….
“Why worry when you can pray?”

Indeed, why worry? It will add nothing to your life, rather it will take away things from you. It will steal your joy and happiness, and it’s detrimental to your health….#HighBloodPressureThinz.

The importance of water

What can we do without water? The importance of water to our health and skin cannot be over-emphasized. Infact, water is one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind. I’m sure we’ve all read and heard of the wonders of this magic liquid and how great it is for our health, and so on…..yet,  most of us don’t consume the recommended minimum amounts for each day.
I’m guilty…very guilty.
I know you’ve heard it many times before, but here again is information about what water can do for you………

PICTORIAL | Basic eye makeup application

Good evening dears

Very busy day, but i just have to do this post. It's a pictorial on basic eye makeup application. If you struggle with applying your eye makeup, then this post is for you. Meanwhile......

Guess what??!!

My lappy is baaaaack! This means that i will do this post in the proper order, and the pictures can come within the post and not at the very end of the post. That was very exasperating while it lasted.

PICTORIAL | Drawing your brows

Good morning dears.

It's a new week, and I thank God for preserving us all. It's not everyone who lived through last week that are a part of this new week, so say a silent prayer of thanks to THE ONE who preserved you.

Like I promised in the last post, here is the pictorial (picture tutorial) on drawing the eyebrows, and it's my very first tutorial yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! *running round the room ringing bell*

It's unfortunate that I can't arrange this post exactly the way I want because i'm not blogging with my laptop. Every picture is supposed to be captioned, but my iPad can't do that.

Saturday, 13 April 2013

Hey people.

Here are some long over-due tips.......

When drawing your eye brows, draw the outline first and then fill in sparse areas.

Avoid drawing 'scouse' brows which happens when the eyebrows are too thick and have a square beginning. You don't want to look like cookie monster of 'sesame street'

B 'n D Makeover | Bridal look

Today's class at 'The Deeva Centre' was great! Teaching is fun sha. It was our first day of practicals, and I demonstrated a bridal look for my students with a model who happened to be the sister of one of my students (Did you get that?). They were all attentive, and even the beautiful model learnt a thing or two.

So I came home, (happy about today's weather by the way), and despite the strong urge to crawl under my duvet and sleep, I decided to try out a bridal look which has been stuck in my head for some days now. I was happy with the look 'cos it turned out exactly the way I envisaged it.....if only you could see it that way #Sigh.....this my lack of camera is doing me stroooong thing. Anyways, don't worry, i'll soon get one by HIS grace, and you will get to see the looks I create in all their glory!

PRODUCT REVIEW | The beauty blender

'Allo lovelies, been a while! I trust you are all doing great.

Classes have resumed at 'The Deeva Centre', and i'm super excited....that's why it's good to do something you have a passion for....you never get tired of it. I love to make people beautiful....oh the looks on their faces when I finally hand them the mirror to see the end-results...#DreamySigh.

Today's post as you have prolly guessed from the title is a review of the Beauty Blender sponge. This sponge is just wonderful I tell ya! It's used to apply foundation and for blending. I first saw it being used in a video tutorial, and I fell for the shape and colour (the one I saw was pink....i'm a sucker for pretty things....remember?) I didn't even know that they came in other shapes and colours....I found that out when I was placing my order for it, and I was happy to see how pretty they all were, so I just had to have 4 of them.....yes, 4.

PRODUCT REVIEW | BH Cosmetics eye shadow palette (4th edition)

First of all, I have to say that I love BH Cosmetics products......well, some of them like their blush+contour palette, their eyeshadow palettes, and their concealer palettes....especially their eyeshadow palettes. To me, after BH comes 'Coastal Scents' (review for another day *winks*)

This particular one I have (4th edition) has 120 beautiful colors, but first, let's talk about the packaging.....yes.

It's sleek, shiny, black and not so big so it won't take up a lot of space in your makeup box. There are 2 palettes in the case.....60 colours in each one. The BH Cosmetics 4th edition is a mix of warm and vibrant colours, and i specifically chose this particular edition because i instantly loved the mix of colours. Every shade i need is in there.

B 'n D Makeover

Happy easter again.

Yesterday, I took my gang to spend Easter Sunday at my parent's place here in Lagos. While we were there, I decided to try out a look on my sister's face, complete with gele. Unfortunately, we didn't have a gele to match the colours i used on her face, so we had to make do with an orange-coloured gele. I'm not good at knowing the names and types of gele, but I do know that I really liked this gele and its feel. It wasn't stiff and strenuous to tie, and it took little effort....I wish I knew what it's called.

I did the same look i did on myself in the last makeover post..... Gold, yellow, green, black contouring ( for a smokey effect). The eyes were kinda busy, so i went for nude lips.

We sha finished the look amidst distractions, and then we took pictures for your viewing pleasure.
