PRODUCT REVIEW | No.7 shine free primer

Happy sunday peeps.

I'm back from church, and i think it's time to review this primer i bought a month ago. I wanted to review it before now, but i decided to use it on my face again before i reviewed it just in case i didn't use it right the first time....but after using it twice, i got the same results so it's time to do the review today.

What it says on the product.....

"Shine free
All day matte.....
Keep shiny skin under control all day long, with this mattifying oil-free base. Light-reflecting particles help disguise fine lines and flaws, while oil-absorbing biopol helps minimise blemishes and blot away shine without blocking pores. Contains watermelon and cucumber extracts to help soothe and cool your skin.
formulated to be non pore blocking
Hypo-allergenic
Moisturise before applying. Smooth on alone or under foundation for satiny soft, shine-free skin"

What i say.....

Honestly, i'm not sure what to think of this product. Is it a primer? Is it a mattifier? I truly can't tell but i know one thing for sure....this product is definately NOT a primer. and as a mattifier, it doesn't last all day long like it said it would #PantsOnFire!. My face got shiny within an hour of using this primer/mattifier and stayed that way till the end of the day.

Thick and almost 'clay-like'
I found it hard to blend this primer into my skin because it is really thick and doesn't spread easily. It dries out fast and leaves white patches that are almost impossible to move and eventually flakes off the face. When i finally blended it out, the second hurdle was blending the foundation into the primer on my face. When the foundation got caught in those patches that dried out before i properly blended them out, it made it look like i had dry flaky skin #HeavySigh. I thought it read on the pack "Smooth on alone or under foundation for satiny soft, shine-free skin" but it definately didn't make my face satiny soft in preparation for my foundation application. #SideEye.

I smeared out a small amount on my hand
This product didn't live up to it's mattifying abilities though. I have normal skin, but sometimes, a little oil shows up on my nose. This primer which promised to keep shiny skin under control all day long couldn't even control that small oil on my nose....how then will it help control and mattify oily skin?

So did my makeup last? See for yourself

Immediately after makeup application

7 hours later

So, that's how i wasted N5,000. Money that i would have used to buy MAC 'Morange' lipstick. And did i mention that it smells like glue? Yes it does.

It is well.

Has anyone here used this product? Did it go well for you? How did you use it? Am i doing something wrong? I need to know oooo because the product still remain plenty and i must use it all up. N5,000 can't fit to waste.

Finally, does anyone know a good primer i could try?

    1. I'm considering the mattifying primer by 'BlackUp'. I've heard good things about it. Plus it's in gel form, so it might blend better. It's quite expensive sha.... Around 8k or so, but if it's worth it, then I wouldn't mind buying it.

Primers are not just for eyes, there are also face primers and lip primers *grins*

    2. By the way, I hear 'Smashbox' oil-free primer is good too.

  4. This primer is a disaster in the making.i dislike the fact dat it gives the face white patches after applying it on the face and its not true to what they say it does.

    1. Awwww, thanks Kimmy.

Ok, in simple terms, a primer smoothens your face and allows you apply your base makeup smoothly, easily and flawlessly. It also helps your makeup stay longer on your face.

A mattifier is mostly for oily skin. It absorbs oil and helps keep the face matte and free of shine as long as you want. Dry or Normal skinned people don't need a mattifier.

  8. I used this and hated it, maybe cos my face is super oily. The best primer for me is Milk of Magnesium

    1. I heard about the milk of magnesia and it's super-drying tendencies. But please try not to overuse it 'cos it can strip your face of all moisture.
