Exfoliating 101

Good morning Beautiful people!

PHCN wants to steal my happiness this morning, but they can't fit *insert bbm 'not intrested' smiley*.

Can you imagine? I paid my bills (I always do, right on time), yet, they disconnected my cable. This happened 3 days ago ooooo! I accosted the man in charge of my avenue, and he said it was a mistake 'cos he's new to the area and hasn't familiarized himself with our cable system, so his boys mistakenly cut my light. I jejeley told him to send them to come and re-connect me shaperly, and he said i should please call him when there's light in my area 'cos they need power to do the connection. Since that time, light only comes at night in our neighbourhood, and by that time, the NEPA office has closed (They will always be nepa to me.....PHCN my fabulous behind! *rme*).

It totally sucks! I hate it when our neighbours have light and we don't. Don't those people know how much disel and fuel cost?

Well, i've called him again this ,morning, and he said he'll send a guy to come fix it before 9am, whether there's light in our area or not. Mtcheeeeeeeeew! My own is that they should hurry 'cos i need to go make my hair.

Now, let's talk skin care. Today, we'll be talking about full-body exfoliation.

Beautiful, soft, and glowing skin....that's the dream right? Then, skin exfoliation is a in a total must because dead skin left on your body is a no-no! However, one important thing you should note about full-body exfoliation is that not all body parts are the in, some parts are tougher than the others. For example, your feet (underneath) is definately harder than your facial skin....dooooh!

There are facial scrubs (Home-made or store-bought), lip scrubs, hand scrubs, foot scrubs and body scrubs. Below, i'll show you how to exfoliate every part of your borry.

  • Wet your face.
  • Squeeze out or scoop out a little quantity of your facial scrub and smear all over your face.
  • Rub gently in circular motions for at least 1 minute and at most 2 minutes.
  • Rinse your face.
  • Moisturize.

For my face, i use St. Ives apricot scrub. It does a good job for me and i love the smell of it.

  • Wet your lips a little....or not
  • Apply a little of your lip scrub on your lips and scrub gently back and forth for a minute
  • Rinse your lips.
  • Apply a moisturizing lipbalm or apply lipsstick

If you don't have a lip scrub/ exfoliator, you can wet your lips or apply a little lip balm to moisten them, and then scrub gently with a toothbrush with soft bristles. If you don't want to use a toothbrush, you can mix a little quantity of lipbalm and sugar and use the mixture to scrub your lips. Some lip exfoliators come in bullet forms like lipsticks, others come in small jars. Choose the one you want and scrub your lips at least once a week, at most 3 times a week. This will help you get rid of dead skin cells, keep your lips supple and soft and ready for lipstick.

  • Get your whole body wet
  • Rub the body scrub all over your body (excluding your face)
  • Put on your exfoliating gloves/mitts and scrub your body thoroughly
  • Rinse off.
  • Moisturize

What i do here is if i don't have a body scrub available, i use my St. Ives apricot facial scrub all over my body, it works just as well and i do this once a week or once in 2 weeks. That way, my old dead skin gives way and my new skin emerges....glowing and beautiful *winks*. But please, whatever you do, don't use your body scrub on your face. You know that the skin on your body is tougher than the skin on your face, so the granules and exfoliating beads in body scrubs are usually harsher and rougher than those in facial scrubs. This would mean that using your body scrub on your face might hurt your delicate facial skin. #NuffSaid

  • Wet your hands.
  • Smear your hand scrub all over your hands.
  • Scrub for anout a minute.
  • Rinse off.
  • Moisturize.

If you don't wanna buy a hand scrub, here's a recipe that works just as well.....mix a tablespoon of granulated sugar, a tablespoon of olive oil (or coconut oil) and a tablespoon of honey together. Rub all over your hands and scrub gently. The sugar exfoliates while the honey and olive oil moisturizes......Easy peasy! Doing this once a week is okay.

  • Wet your feet
  • Apply the foot scrub and exfoliate properly
  • Rinse
  • Moisturize

You know that your feet ususally takes a beating, so it's essential that you pamper them by having pedicures done. Ok, i've never had a pedicure done professionally on my feet because i'm extremely ticklish. I usually do mine all my myself in the comfort of my room. I even do for my hubby sef sometimes.....if he pays me.....looolz! I kid.....i love giving him pedicures, it relaxes him. If you don't have time to go get a pedicure done, you can scrub your feet to prevent callouses anyway.

I can't over-emphasize the importance of getting rid of dead skin cells. A lways remember that your body sheds skin frequently, and you need to help it get rid of the old and dead skin so that the new skin will emerge.

Shebi you people want beautiful, glowing skin ...hoin?
