MUA Alert!

Good evening beauties, you are welcome to another segment of 'MUA alert'. Today, i'll like to introduce you to Joyce, a makeup artist based at Ado-Ekiti. As usual, i sent her some questions and she sent in her answers. Quite interesting.

Enjoy.....

Joyce

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED AS A MAKE-UP ARTISTE?

I started in 2010 when I was in my final year in school before writting my final papers. I thought it wise to go for training as I had little time before my exams, so i did my makeup training in lagos. As at that time, i was living with my parents in lagos before relocating in order to be more skillful in makeup artistry.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF BEAUTY?

My idea of beauty is that beauty is divine. As the bible has made us to know that God created us in his own image, we all possess exceptional quality or qualities in one way or the other.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY?

I have been in d industry since 2010, but it's been off and on until 2011 when I decided to face it squarely.

WHAT BEAUTY ADVICE WOULD YOU SUGGEST ALL WOMEN FOLLOW?

It's of paramount importance that all women should have their face exfoliated at least twice a week to remove dead cells, and also cleanse, tone and moisturize to have a healthy skin.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU?

What inspired me is the creativity in art, and also, lots of people inspired me.....from BMpro to Kemi Kings, Kunbi Fashakin of 'Sit pretty' to N'sure Beauty, Beautycook, and also you because i have been going through your blog since last year. I'll also say good jobs from professional makeup artists inspire me too.

SO HOW DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR BUSINESS NAME?

It's such a funny story because when i was in makeup school, the name 'Labelle' came to my mind. But i didn't know someone was already using it. So when i found out that it was taken, i changed the name. Although it took a while for me to come up with the name 'Bellerina makeovers'.

WHAT ARE YOUR MOST FAVOURITE PRODUCTS?

I wouldn't say i have favourites products per say, but i love good quality products. I am loving zaron products right now, though i use different types to achieve the results I want.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BEAUTY LOOK?

My favourite beauty look is soft to smokey look.

WHAT IS THE MAKEUP STEP YPU NEVER SKIP, AND WHAT MAKES THIS STEP SO IMPORTANT?

I never skip the eye makeup before the face, and i love this step because it makes my job neater and faster.

WHICH CELEBRITY'S LOOK WOULD YOU STEAL IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY?

Abroad, it's Oprah Winfrey and Queen Latifah. In Nigeria, it's Stephanie Okereke.

WHAT PART OF YOUR JOB DO YOU LOVE THE MOST?

I'll say the makeup aspect.

WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE UPCOMING MUAS TO HELP THEM IN THEIR CAREERS?

My advise to upcoming muas is to be a professional in the makeup field. Learn the art and also be patient as its not that easy to build a clientele in a short period. Keep practising and try someting new. Above all, pray at all times.
