Hope you are doing good. Today, i have an important question for you…”How do you wash your face?”
I know some of you will think “With soap and water na!” Loolz!. Yes, i know that soap is definitely involved, but the question is…”What type of soap do you use?”. If your answer to that question was “My normal body soap”, then you answered wrong. Don’t just grab whatever soap is available and wash your face with it.
Before i took interest in caring for my skin and everything makeup and beauty, i used to wash my face with my normal body soap. And as a result, my face was usually dry and had white patches on different areas, so i thought i had dry skin. I didn’t know that it was like that because i was using my body soap on my face (So if your skin isn’t as perfect as you want it to look, then you should take a look at how you wash it).
When i eventually learnt that there were special cleansing soaps (face wash) formulated for the facial skin, i started using the one by Marykay and my skin was thankful for it. The dryness and white patches disappeared and all was well with the world again. That was when i found out that i actually had ‘normal skin’ not ‘dry skin’.
Many ladies don’t know that they shouldn’t use body soap on their faces. Why? Because it is harsh and therefore messes with your skin’s PH balance and strips your skin of its natural oils, making your face tight and dry. There are harsh chemicals in body soaps, and while it works perfectly for the rest of your body, it will ruin your delicate facial skin.
Face wash can be in liquid or bar form, it also has different types formulated for different kinds of skin….there are the ones for oily skin, normal skin, combination skin, dry skin, even for sensitive skin too…..but the problem with normal body soap is that there are no different kinds for different skin types.

So, you are strongly advised to buy the face wash which is suitable for your skin type and use it to wash your face. If you have sensitive skin, please go for a fragrance-free face wash to avoid irritation. And please try to avoid scrubbing your face….especially if you have acne, you’ll only worsen it. Instead, use your fingers and rub gently in circular motions. Some people use wash cloths to wash their faces, but i’ve never used one. All i use are my fingers.
Another thing that matters while washing your face is the water temperature. If the water is hot, it might dry your skin too much. So for best results, use warm water to wash your face, and then rinse finally with cold water. The cold water would serve to close your pores.
Finally, dry your face in patting motions and then apply your moisturizer.
If you learnt something from this post, you’re welcome.
