It's been a while. Hope you had a great weekend.
It's been quite a while since our last 'Q & A Series' post. Most of the time, i just reply the questions i'm asked via email or BBM, but the ones i feel everyone would benefit from, i answer them here. Gloria needs help with her dry lips. A lot of ladies have this issue......i've worked on a lot of flaky lips, so i know. We have entered the season that deals mercilessly with lips, so these tips i want to share today would come in handy for us all.
Good morning Nazor, Pls i have this annoying issue with my lips. They are always dry and flaky and always peels off. When i apply lipstick, it does not blend because of the dryness. I use chapstick or vaseline on them but the problem is still there. Please, how can i handle this issue? It can be embarassing sometimes.
Well hello Gloria *And whoever else it may concern*,
Don´t be sad because a lot of ladies have this same problem. Dry lips occur as a result of being exposed to the weather. The sun, dry air, wind and cold can wreak havoc on your lips if you don´t care adequately for them.
Do you lick your lips? Yes? You gotta stop doing that.
Licking your lips aggravates the dryness because saliva evaporates fast and dehydrates your lips further. By the way, you should know that the skin on your lips is very thin, that´s why it dries out very fast and gets painful cracks.
Do you exfoliate your lips? No? You really should!
Buy a good lip scrub and use it to gently scrub your lips every morning or evening. It would help you get rid of the dead skin cells sitting on your lips and reveal newer softer skin underneath. If you don't have a lip scrub, you can make yours.
Mix honey and sugar together and use it to do the scrubbing. You can even add a little lemon juice to lighten dark lips.
After scrubbing, go ahead and use a moisturizing lip balm to protect your lips from drying and peeling. You should have a good moisturizing lipbalm handy always. Keep one in your purse, one in your room, one in your kitchen, one in your car, etc...... So that you would always have one around you to use whenever you need to. Be careful when buying lipbalms though because i read somewhere that some lip balms contain drying ingredients.
Always apply your lipbalm at night before you sleep so that in the morning, you would wake up with softer lips. Don't use drying lipsticks or lipstains, rather invest more in moisturizing lipsticks.
I really hope this helps you out.
