I bring to you another product review. I'm sure you must have heard of the Colorpop Cosmetics brand...how can't you? They broke the internet!
It was Colourpop this...... Colourpop that....Swatches and reviews everywhere!
So i finally decided to buy one and see for myself . Out of all the ones i saw that were available HERE , i settled on the shade called 'Moonshine'.
I used it to create my last look, so it's time to tell you how i feel about the product.
First off, i love the packaging, but what i don't get is why the container is so big when the actual product in the container is only a few millimeters deep. You would hit the bottom of the pan quicker than the container makes you think you would.
It's just like those little wooden bowls they serve 'Nkwobi' in......when you see it for the first time, your heart will leap with joy thinking that there's juicy nkwobi all the way to the bottom of the bowl, but once you dig in, you find out that its just a flat surface with meat piled on top. *Very annoying little bowls*
But hey, The price is okay for the quantity and quality of product you are getting.
Next, let's talk about the texture of this eyeshadow....and this is where confusion sets in. Don't get me wrong....the texture is wonderful, but the confusion i'm talking about is how to describe the way this product feels.
Is it a cream eye shadow?
Is it a mousse?
Is it a powder?
Or is it just wet?
When you touch it with your finger, it sinks in and feels wet, but when you apply, it dries to a powder texture.
'Moonshine' has a matte brown base and gold shimmery bits in it. Applying it with a brush didn't work out so well *the brush wasn't picking up enough product*, and so i went in with my finger...it turned out so much better! Next time, i'll use a sponge-tip applicator because i don't really like applying makeup with my fingers. I hope that will work as well as my finger did.
I don't like the fact that it doesn't blend so easily. You have to put in a lot of work to blend this baby out....but that doesn't mean that you can't work with it....just figure out the right technique and you'll be fine.
|You can see the dark brown base and the gold shimmer on top|
I only bought one shade of the Colourpop Super shock eyeshadows, and i don't know if the other shades feel and applies the same way, but i intend to find out.
I like the 'Moonshine' though, and i'll be using it often for soft brown smokey looks.
